Asim Munir: 70% of TTP Infiltrators Are Afghans
Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has said that most Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan fighters infiltrating into Pakistan are Afghan nationals. Speaking at the National Ulema Conference in Islamabad, he stated that nearly 70 per cent of TTP formations entering Pakistan comprise Afghans. He questioned Afghanistan’s role, asking whether Afghan soil was not contributing to the bloodshed of Pakistani children. Pakistan has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent terrorists from using Afghan territory for attacks, an allegation Afghanistan continues to deny. Referring to the four-day conflict with India in May, Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan’s armed forces received “divine help” during the retaliatory operation Bunyanum Marsoos. The confrontation followed the Pahalgam attack in occupied Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists. India blamed Pakistan without evidence, while Islamabad strongly rejected the accusations. Addressing religious matters, the Field Marshal said only the state has the authority to declare jihad, adding that no individual or group can issue such a fatwa independently. He also described Pakistan as a unique Islamic state, drawing parallels with early Islamic history.
