Their historic meeting at the White House in June was the first between a serving Pakistani army chief and a sitting US president. Trump later said he was “honoured” to meet Munir and credited him with maintaining peace in South Asia. The US president has also called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Munir “great people,” thanking them for their diplomatic cooperation.
