Pak-Saudi Defense Accord Strengthens Regional Peace and Stability | SLY News

Islamabad, September 19, 2025 — Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has said the newly signed Pak-Saudi Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement is purely defensive in nature and not aimed at any third country. At the weekly briefing, FO Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan stated that the accord will play a vital role in ensuring regional peace, security, and stability. He highlighted that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a unique and enduring partnership, deeply rooted in brotherhood, cooperation, and people-to-people ties. Since the 1960s, defense cooperation has remained one of the strongest pillars of bilateral relations. Pakistanis hold special reverence for Saudi Arabia as the custodian of Islam’s holiest sites, Makkah and Madina. Commenting on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks about “Operation Sindoor,” the FO dismissed them as misleading and dangerous. Shafqat Ali Khan stressed that Pakistan’s conventional military capability has effectively deterred Indian aggression, while discipline and restraint remain guiding principles. He warned that India’s reliance on propaganda and jingoism threatens regional stability. Pakistan, however, remains committed to peace, dialogue, and resolution of all disputes, especially Jammu and Kashmir. The FO also expressed grief over the passing of Professor Abdul Ghani Butt and condemned India’s oppressive actions against Kashmiri mourners.
