“PM Shehbaz Backs Qatar, Calls for Muslim Unity After Israeli Airstrikes”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha on September 11, 2025, to express solidarity with Qatar following Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in the capital earlier this week. The visit came amid rising regional tensions after Israel targeted Hamas representatives in Doha, killing several people, including a Qatari officer. During his meeting with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister Shehbaz strongly condemned the strikes as a “blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty” and called for unity within the Muslim world to confront Israeli provocations. He assured Pakistan’s complete support for Qatar, stressing that both nations stand together in times of crisis. Shehbaz praised Qatar’s mediation role in peace efforts for Gaza, warning that Israeli actions aim to derail regional stability and humanitarian initiatives. He also welcomed Qatar’s decision to host an Arab-Islamic Summit on September 15 and reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to co-sponsor the event through the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The prime minister expressed condolences over the loss of lives and reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Qatar. Both leaders pledged to maintain close coordination in promoting peace, upholding international law, and supporting Palestinian rights.
